Once again, this year I was able to collaborate in the ICC mural. First, I was part of the team that designed the first drafts and this year we were facing many challenges. The bigger one was that our theme was a hard one to represent through an arts perspective so we had to play with different colors and techniques to come up with a final design for our grade's mural. Finally, we decided on one that had a lot of meaning behind it. I was able to collaborate in the painting of the mural for many hours and was happy to receive the first place, as we had dedicated so much time and effort in the making of this mural.

Learning Outcome: Challenges, Commitment Last week, I had an NAHS retreat. I have been part of this club for almost two semesters now and this was a way to prove our commitment towards this honor society. We had many different activities, exploring our artistics skills. We played some games that really challenged our skills, we had to use different mediums and draw what we were asked to. This included us drawing with pencil, with markers, with our hands using paint and much more. It was an awesome experience since I was able to challenge myself into completing these drawings to score points with my team!
Learning Outcomes: Commitment, Collaboration, Ethical Actions As a member of the Community and Service Club, I was able to visit Cayetano Heredia Hospital, where there are a lot of sick kids. Our goal is to go there and get a smile out of them and give them the opportunity to forget all the tough things they are going through and have fun for a couple of hours. Here is where I met Claudia. The sweetest girl of all. At first, it was hard to get her to talk or smile but after talking to her for a while, she responded. She started talking to me, we played many games and she couldn't stop laughing. We ended up taking a lot of selfies! At this particular visit, she asked me to teach her how to draw. I was extremely happy to help her, especially with art, which is something she can do any time to get distracted from all the hospital stuff. We ended up drawing some flowers, she learned how to write her name, it was an incredible visit!
Learning Outcome: Collaboration, Challenges This week we celebrated Pink Week in our school and as a member of the National Arts Honor Society, we decided to paint a mural in the white and boring walls of a construction occuring in the High School Area. We tried to show breast cancer awareness in our mural, we used different tones of pink and some green as well. The mural was basically a woman with a pink ribbon around her, covering her breasts and with many roses around her. I stayed twice this week, 2 hours per day. It was a great experience, I was able to use the perspective technique in the roses and in the woman's skin color. It was very nice to use art to express such an important idea, like breast cancer awareness.
Learning Outcome: Collaboration, Challenges Last week was the famous ICC - Interclass Competition. The most desired week from all FDR students. This is a special event where we compete between high school grades in almost every aspect, music, arts, sports, mind, even cooking! For the past three weeks, I have been working on our mural. Since the beginning, when we were designing some possibilities to the moment when we were doing the last details. It has been a difficult way, staying many hours after school and even coming during the weekend, but it was all worth it because we got first place in the mural! It was a great experience to explore our talents as a class and working extremely hard for a common goal, it definitely paid off!
